Re: Jane Russell at the Aero Theater in SM this Sunday
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 4:26 PMWell, it was pretty great. First of all, there is nothing like seeing a movie on the big screen, projected ON FILM! It was the first time I had seen Marilyn in a theater, and it was phenomenal. You just see more detail, like Noel Neil (Lois Lane on the old Superman series) in the background.
It was fun listening to Jane Russell tell stories about her career in film, Howard Hughes, Marilyn Monroe, and her crusade for clearing obstacles to adoptions.
Son of Paleface was interesting. The musical numbers were fun, and I had never seen Roy Rogers on the big screen, either. Bob Hope was hilarious, and the gags were funny. (Bob and Trigger sharing the covers in a bed had the theater ROFL!)
So, check the American Cinematheque web site. They have all sorts of events like this, so chances are someone whose movies that you admire will be coming around soon.
